Nonionic Polyacrylamide Powder

Our Nonionic Polyacrylamide (NPAM) is a high-efficiency water-soluble polymer flocculant. It is specially developed for acidic wastewater treatment, food processing wastewater, electronic industry wastewater, and chemical fiber production wastewater treatment. With good flocculation under pH-neutral to acidic conditions, low sensitivity to inorganic salts, and excellent performance in physical solid-liquid separation, it can greatly improve suspended solids removal efficiency and reduce overall treatment costs. The use method of nonionic polyacrylamide

1.Wear protective equipment
Wear gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask. Although nonionic PAM has low irritation, you should still avoid prolonged skin contact and prevent dust inhalation when handling the powder.
2.Prepare the dissolving tank and water
Use a clean plastic or stainless steel dissolving tank. Fill it with clean, neutral water (pH 6-8) with low hardness. Nonionic PAM is highly sensitive to water quality, and high-hardness water can severely affect its dissolution and performance.
3.Calculate and weigh the powder
Calculate the required amount based on the target concentration (typically 0.05%–0.3%). Nonionic PAM has a high molecular weight, so the dosage is usually lower than that of anionic PAM. Weigh the powder accurately to avoid waste or insufficient effect.
4.Add water first, then start mixing
Pour the prepared water into the tank, then start the mixer before adding the powder. Use a low-to-moderate stirring speed (150–300 rpm) — high speed can break the polymer chains and reduce the flocculation effect.
5.Sprinkle powder slowly and evenly
Sprinkle the powder slowly and evenly along the edge of the vortex, not directly into the center. Nonionic PAM is prone to forming undissolved clumps ("fish eyes") if added too quickly.
6.Keep mixing until fully dissolved
Continue stirring for 45–60 minutes. Stop stirring only when the solution is completely clear, with no visible particles or gel clumps. Do not stir at too high a speed, as this will degrade the polymer.
7.Let the solution mature
Let the solution stand for 30–60 minutes to ensure full hydration of the polymer chains. The maturing process is critical for nonionic PAM to reach its optimal performance.
8.Determine the dosage by jar tests
Conduct jar tests to find the optimal dosage. Nonionic PAM is often used for low-temperature or highly turbid water, so test different dosages and mixing times to achieve the best flocculation and clarification effect.
9.Add the solution to the treatment system
Add the matured solution to the treatment system, usually before the flocculation tank. Ensure sufficient mixing time to allow the polymer to fully contact and react with the suspended solids.
10.Use the solution promptly and clean the equipment
The prepared nonionic PAM solution is less stable than anionic solutions, so it is best used within 12 hours. After use, rinse the dissolving tank and mixer thoroughly with clean water to prevent residue buildup.
