Anionic Polyacrylamide Powder

Our Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM) is a high-efficiency water-soluble polymer flocculant. It is specially developed for mineral processing, coal washing, steel plant wastewater, and sand washing wastewater treatment. With strong bridging adsorption, rapid suspended solid settlement, and excellent adaptability to high-density slurries, it can greatly improve solid-liquid separation efficiency and reduce overall treatment costs. Widely used in mining tailings, iron & steel mills, non-ferrous metal smelting, ceramic industry, and stone processing plants.

The use method of anionic polyacrylamide

1.Wear protective equipment
Wear gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask. While anionic PAM is less irritating than cationic PAM, you should still avoid prolonged skin contact and dust inhalation during powder handling.
2.Prepare the dissolving tank and water
Use a clean plastic or stainless steel dissolving tank. Fill it with clean, neutral water (pH 6-8). Anionic PAM is more sensitive to high-hardness water, so avoid using hard or acidic/alkaline water.
3.Calculate and weigh the powder
Calculate the required amount based on the target concentration (typically 0.1%–0.5%, higher than cationic PAM). Weigh the powder accurately, as anionic PAM is often used in larger dosages for water treatment.
4.Add water first, then start mixing
Pour the prepared water into the tank, then start the mixer before adding powder. Use a moderate stirring speed (200–400 rpm) — anionic PAM dissolves faster but can still clump if added too quickly.
5.Sprinkle powder slowly and evenly
Sprinkle the powder slowly along the edge of the vortex, not directly into the center. This prevents "fish eyes" (undissolved clumps) that are common with high-molecular-weight anionic grades.
6.Keep mixing until fully dissolved
Stir for 30–45 minutes (usually shorter than cationic PAM). Stop stirring only when the solution is completely clear, with no visible particles or gel lumps.
7.Let the solution mature
Let the solution stand for 15–30 minutes. Unlike cationic PAM, anionic PAM matures faster; excessive standing can reduce its molecular weight and flocculation performance.
8.Determine the dosage by jar tests
Conduct jar tests to find the optimal dosage. Anionic PAM works best with inorganic coagulants (like PAC), so test combinations of coagulant and anionic PAM for the best flocculation and settling results.
9.Add the solution to the treatment system
Add the matured solution to the treatment system, usually after adding the primary coagulant. The addition point is typically before the flocculation tank, ensuring sufficient mixing time.
10.Use the solution promptly and clean the equipment
Anionic PAM solutions degrade faster than cationic ones, so use them within 24 hours (preferably within 12 hours). After use, rinse the tank and mixer thoroughly with clean water to prevent residue buildup.
